When I first got my C in Brilliant Black metallic pearl coat, I found that the paint did indeed, grey out, under low light.
However, it doesn't do this anymore. The solution was to build up a super slick, clear protective finish, then add depth to it. My car literally glows, even in very low light conditions.
It takes a lot of work, at first, but, then it is quite easy to maintain.
