Hmmm...
I was talking to a friend with a BMW M5 and he was working on this issue on his car... It seems that the non-US models have ducting to the front breaks and the US model does not. When he inquired about it, the response was that the US owners are picky about break dust on there wheels and with the additional air flow the dust amount increases. (hmmm.. How about preformance issues?)

He was working on getting the parts to the ducting that his US car was missing.
