Joey, Don't worry about it,like I said CONTI'S had ( and still do in my opinion) a reputation for wearing like iron but having an inherent lack of traction. The noise you hear is simply due to the composition rubber " hardening" and becoming basically smooth without becoming bald. Let's just call it an inherent design flaw for those of us who might have expected more from D/C.
I remember back in '87 when buying a new car (Merc.),as I started to sign the agrement I put the pen down and said " wait a minute, what tires does it have on it.They had Firestones which at that time wore out fast.I had noticed several others with " Tiger Paws" on the same model.After checking them, I said that the tires were a deal breaker, but if they simply switched them we were good to go. Next day I drove away with what I wanted. Boy how times have changed ! Talk about having a captive audience.
