Well, the Champaign-Urbana area is a college town... of mostly anti- capitalist hippies (they fought off starbucks for 10 years, why would they drive a 20mpg car?)
I suppose the frat boys and townies make up for the majority of drivers...

Now that you mention it, I've seen plenty in NYC, including one with a HUUGE dent/ scratches on the drivers side. On the way from AZ- IL, I hadn't seen any from NM- near St. Louis, but perhaps that was because I may have been speeding slightly... =P
