In addition to my 300C I also own some vintage 60s sports cars. Here in Cali they tried to pass a law basically requring smog checks for cars built after 1960 as opposed to the current law which is 1974. It was a barely-disguised scam to get the old cars off the road so people would be forced to buy new ones.

There was no way that California was going to permit that- the aftermarket business for cars in Cali (gotta love the bling) is a billion dollar industry. Believe me I got on the net and wrote my State Assemblyman that he would be looking for a job as of the next primary if he supported the bill. He didn't.

We classic car owners felt we were being penalized for owning vintage cars. Why should we also be penalized for owning cars that obviously are not fuel efficient? Hell, the SRT8 owners have to pony up an extra 2100.00 "Gas Guzzler" tax before they even get to drive it.

If the car passes smog and is legal to drive I have a hard time understanding why anyone would waste their energy complaining about it. If you feel that strongly about it ride a bike or take public transportation.

Don't preach to me. Just lead by example...
