Your thoughts please

When I bought my 300C SRT-8 (8/24/05) I extended the warranty to 100,000 miles and got the service plan for 5 years or 70,000 miles. I paid $2500 for the extendedwarranty and $500 for the service plan. Both are from Fidelity, through the dealership. I also got gap insurance for $500. The service contract covers oil changes every 3,000 miles (13 oil changes), a coolant flush at 45,000 miles, and brake inspections (no pads or rotors either). Part of the reason I got the service plan is the fact that the dealership has a record of the scheduled maintenence being performed. If I ever munch the motor it's less likely that they'll be able to deny my warranty claim.

I think $1579 is way too much. Ask at the dealership about Fidelity. They issue a coupon book which can be used at the dealership or any Pep Boys or anyplace else that will accept the coupon then wait to be paid by Fidelity.

The rest of my vehicles get oil changes at Wally World (Wal-Mart). Full synthetic for about $35 including topping off fluids, setting tire pressures, and vacuuming the front andcleaning the windshield.
