Like to share this with all of you in this thread --

On Nov 2, my computer died and I went to the local Best Buy to purchase a new one. The young man helping me was obviously sight handicapped with rather heavy lenses and could never have served in any military service. We talked and discussed my computer needs in a computer, etc.

Finally, after settling on a computer (HP a370n Pavillion cpu, 3.0gHz, 200 gigs HD), the salesman said to me, "was I in the service?" I replied, "What do you mean?, in the military? Not currently, but I was retired military, why"

He said, "I noticed your USMC ring and just wanted to shake your hand for having served." Dumfounded, I shook his hand and managed out a "Geez, thank you very much."

After being spit at after the Korean War and especially after the Viet Nam War (and after enduring both Jane Fonda's and John Kerry's antics as hippies while I was still serving there), it felt good to have someone say "thanks" for a change.

Likewise, so it does here with the feelings expressed by those of you who entered these posts. So, on the behalf of those of us who served and are serving, THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR CARING.

Miles
