A/C blows warm on drivers side only

Hey guys,

had this problem for some time but now that summer is in full effect, it's even worse.

Had the A/C charged and confirmed it has no leaks, but the drivers side still blows warm-ish.

I have the dual climate control for both driver and passenger. It seems to me the temperature control for the drivers side is not functioning. Blows luke warm on my side, cold on all passenger vents.

Trying to save money these days and can't just go to the dealer and say "fix it".

Any ideas on what I would need to fix it ? Just the dial part ?? I'm sure I could get the dash part out to access it and replace it. If it's any more than that then I'm probably screwed for now.

Thanks for any and all help and opinions.

Sounds like the blend door is not operating properly.

Do a SEARCH for blend door.

Did a search

OK I looked up a few posts about the blend door, not exactly sure it's function, so I'll just break down what is happening to me.

Air blows where expected, if I switch to defrost/floor, the air switches fine and blows there. Anywhere I put the dial the air is blowing as you would expect and it changes right away.

However, if I change the temperature on the driver's side control, cold to hot, or anywhere on the dial, the temperature remains the same lukewarm feeling. You flip it from all the way cold to all the way hot and it does nothing, no matter what mode I'm in.

The right side works perfectly and goes from cold to hot right away if you turn the dial up, out of all passenger side vents. I swear it's like there are two completely different systems in there.

So once again to me it just seems like the temperature dial on the drivers side is doing absolutely nothing. My radio has never been out, but I did have an aftermarket alarm put in right after I got the car (7 years ago). That's the only work thats happened under the dash (drivers side). This didn't happen until many years later (I've just been dealing with it for a while now).

A/C was charged recently, confirmed there are no leaks.

Thoughts ???

I suspect it is NOT the blend door but the temp control switch on the driver's side. I am making that assumption given that the air directions change and the temp control on the other side works.

In my opinion I see no reason to rule out the blend door fault. There are four different doors operated by the control. One for the mode, one for recirculation. Two for temperature control, blend doors, one for right and one for left side vents.(I assume you have dua zone ATC, because the other side temperature control works) If the other side temperature control, mode control and recirculation mode works, I definitely woud suspect the other blend door actuator not working. Because everything else works correctly, i would suspect the control not being faulty.

Honestly, I would suggest to diagnose the system at dealer, and then doing the repair yourself. In other case, there is a very high possibility for you to randomly change different parts, and you still have the problem.

Here are some possible causes from the service manual:

TEMPERATURE CONTROL
If the heater outlet air temperature cannot be adjusted with the temperature control on the A/C-heater control, the
following could require service:
- Faulty A/C-heater control.
- Faulty blend door actuator(s).
- Faulty, obstructed or improperly installed blend-air door.
- Improper engine coolant temperature.
- Faulty related wiring harness or connectors.

Those actuators are by the way interchangeable with each other. So if you disconnect the driver side blend door actuator and connect it to the passenger side actuator connector, you could check if its working now, then you have a faulty control. If not, then actuator.
