dumb i know
Just thought I'd say something here you might want to think about. Our cars have built in security that makes it very difficult for the average moron car thief to actually drive out cars away. The secret is the key, and combined with the computer acknowledging it, will not allow someone to hotwire in the old fashioned way. That means that about 95% of criminals would not be able to actually steal your car after breaking in. Now you leave them a key right in your car???? Once they get in, they can just drive it away!!!

It would also be interesting to find out what your insurance company would have to say about your car being stolen with the keys in it. They probably give you some sort of discount for having the security system, so it makes me wonder what they would do if your car was stolen with the key inside.

Anyway, just thought I'd throw that out there, and maybe get you thinking again about leaving a key in the car as a spare.

I almost never use the remote to lock the car. I press the lock button on the front door. I do use the remote to unlock, but almost never to lock. Come from reading about scanners that pick up on the key frequencies, and although criminals to read and then duplicate your key before you return (may be an urband legend, but it's my story and I'm sticking to it! LOL).
