Limited Slip Differential

I jave just heard that the 09 300, Challenger and Charger SRT-8s will come with a stock G648 Rear Axle with Limited Slip Differential. It's about time. As far as I can see, they will be able to drop right into our beloved older models. I will be ordering mine really soon. It will probably take a while to get as production on the 09s either hasn't started or will take the priority initally.

Woo Hoo!

Will it be good for non SRT8 models? I guess no hope, but thought to ask just in case.

This is great news!

I put in a Quaife LSD in my SRT8 in March of '07 and it changes the car's drivability, not to mention much less wear and tear on the back brakes (very little ESP brake intervention now to eliminate wheelspin).

i havent heard this new yet. but its not like i have been doing any research. i know the 09 Challenger with 6-speed, will be getting the LSD. but as far as i know, it is a different gear case, so it wont drop into the LX's.

personally, im still holding out for a higher gear ratio LSD to be made.

I don't think that's going to be a possibility based on this post from the last chat session - Cherokee SRT8 Forum - View Single Post - SRT Engineers Chat Session - 7/23/08 6pm - 8pm EST.

Also the 09 Challenger is equipped with a torque sensing mechanical LSD and BLD (brake limited differential) combined.

from what i was reading. it looks like richmond already has a set in the making. as for the ECM, you need to look past the manufacturer. the SRT engineers dont acknowledge anything aftermarket. but everyone on the forums, knows that diablo is now able to edit the predetermined gear ratio in your ECM.

i know that they will still be producing both the BLD and LSD. because the automatics still have just BLD. but the 6-speed will get the true LSD. the BLD becomes virtually useless with a true LSD. so a combination of the 2 systems, wouldnt make much sense??

It is unlikely they will re-write the entire ESP system just to add an LSD. Members adding the Quaiffe have reported fantastic improvements and no downside (as long as you never hook up, as in "drag radials"). The complete integration of the ESP setup into every part of vehicle dynamics means you cannot easily cut out any one part. And BLD adds no weight, additional components or complexity.
