hey wats up guys....my srt8 has been running kinda hot lately so i went ahead and bought a jet chip thermostat....i hear of members sayn its kinda easy to install but i dont even know where it is located...so if any body can help me out i would greatly appreaciate it...thx
The t-stat is located at the end of the upper radiator hose where it slips onto the t-stat housing at the top right front of the engine.
I lowered my coolant level by draining about three quarts out by opening the drain valve that lets the coolant out via a hose through the bottom of the bumper fascia. The valve is plastic, so don't over-torque on it. One-half twist to full open is all it takes.
Unscrew the two bolts and pull a bit on the hose to expose the t-stat. Place a wad of paper towel beneath the joint to keep coolant in the hose from splashing around. Pry the old t-stat out by using a screwdriver as a lever but DON'T TOUCH THE GASKET! Carefully remove the gasket from the stock t-stat and carefully install in on the new t-stat.
I used a splash of silicone lubricant on the t-stat gasket's and carefully squeezed it into the well with my thumbs, "jiggle valve" up! Piece of cake!
To remove air from the system I unscrewed the plug on the front of the engine just to the left of the t-stat and added coolant into the expansion tank until coolant started to come out of the unplugged hole, then replugged it and poured the remaining coolant into the expansion tank.
