Look up (The Pink Thingy) on this site. There is a bypass for this on the right side of shifter, pull the plastic rectangle cup out and push the button in the square opening. (That might work)
Also their is a recall on this problem. Or you can get an alum. part from Bullit Tech. and get away from the plastic ones. There is a video on YouTube on how to replace this part (Park Interlock).
Chances are pushing the button in the square hole will not release the shifter. This release method was not designed into the car for this type of park lockout mechanism failure.
The recall is known as "K-39". Call your stealership with your VIN inhand and have them check to see if you are in cluded in the recall.
There is an emergency release procedure detailed somewhere on this forum. It involves removing the bezel that surrounds the shifter to gain access to a cable below, then poking it with a screwdriver to activate the release. Do some fairly extensive searching to find it.
If you are not included in the recall there are several solutions to the problem, such as: get the car to a stealership for a shifter mechanism replacement, about $350; order the Billet Technology (BT) replacement part and replace the broken part yourself, $50 for the part plus any labor (about an hour-and-a-half) not provided by you, or have someone do it for you, (requires removing the center console and other components to gain access; remove the center console and disassemble the shifter to remove the broken part so as to drill a hole in it and insert a cotter pin to provide an attachment point for the return spring, about $0.02 for the cotter pin.
CAUTION: Problems with key removal can be created if care is not exercised in disassembly/reassembly of the shifter and associated control cables.
