Headers exhaust worth it?

Ok heres the deal.. a friend has a srt8 charger and is trading it in on a srt8 challanger. i have a srt8 300. Both cars 06.

mines stock.. his has Kooks long tube headers, slp cat back, intake , programmer , catch can ect. he asked me if id want the parts for basically nothing.. and swapping out the stock stuff so hes trading in a almost stock car. He said he just wanted the parts to be used and not to be traded in.

My question is... do u think its worth it to swap out the headers from what i have read it sounds like its a Pain in the ass.. from what i have read it sounds like it could be expensive to have someone do the swap too.. so idk what to do

or should i just do the cat back ?

the car is my daily driver..

If everything is in good shape i say go for it. A friend of mine ran the kooks headers and loved them. Mind you he was running an airhammer intake to. As far as it being a daily driver is concerned. As long as they are installed properly (check the flanges for trueness first) theres no reason why it should leave you on the side of the road.

Those headers are like $1500 and worth it. If you can get the stuff really cheap it's worth putting it on. Know a local LX enthusiast in your area? Maybe they are good with wrenches.

If you are around ABQ I would like the headers

im from Maryland.. and im trying to locate someone that can either help me with the install.. im no retard but im not a mechanic either.. ( im the police) hes basically giving me the items i have the KnN intake but i might switch with whatever he had.. even if i have to pay a mechanic to complete the header swap it might be worth it..

There are a lot of big time LX racers/modifiers/enthusiasts in the D.C. metroplex...go to LX forums and find the local car club. If nothing else, Arrington and DTP (Dyno Tune Performance) are fairly close to you and they build and tune these cars as good as anybody. Never know what kind of deal you can work with them. Good luck. The Kooks headers sound absolutely awesome on our cars , you've probably heard the difference with your friend's car. I've never been a fan of the SLP exhausts because they are a little crude/loud, but I wouldn't pass on a free one!

yea he contacted the shop that put his system on and they quoted almost $600 per car to do the swap. and its a known shop.. just sounded a lil high to me..

he has both slp's with the mufflers and the straight pipe sections so i could either have the lm1 or lm2 and jba's.. im not sure what catback i'd run.

I wouldn't do it for 600 bucks! It's a real pain to perform.

The SRT8 already has a nice set of shoty headers and they work very well, with tons of cars all the way into the elevens.

Unless you've got plans for heads/cam soon save the money. And the ground clearance!

Just to play devil's advocate here, $600 isn't so bad if it is done right considering both cars need their engines pulled to make it happen. Stock headers getting cars into the 11s isn't a big deal to me considering how easy 12s are to get stock...just my opinion...

Kooks headers with Corsa sounds intoxicating

I know your NO where close to me (im in NM) but just as an idea, i paid $200cash to have my set of SRT8 headers and mid pipes installed on my 300C about 9 months ago. Never regreted it nor thought twice! id say look around at different shops, or ask some buddies of yours to help you out.!!That be a great treat for your car!

Unless your doing it for sound difference don't waste your money. Our stock headers flow great. Take your $600 and have high flow magnaflow midpipes installed, buy a diablo predator and enjoy! Like someone else said unless you plan on dropping some dough and doing heads/cam you're wasting your time, money and ground clearance
