Brembo Caliper Clear Coat Delamination

Anyone had this problem?

I started this thread on last week right before the SRT Engineer chat session and posted it there as well, but no answer from the engineers during that session.

I just started a thread on srtconnection as well, but the hyperlink wont allow "srt connection dot com" to be in it...? It is in the SRT8 section with the same title as this thread.

http://www.******************/forums...ad.php?t=14064

And on chargerforums

http://www.chargerforums.com/forums/...46#post1761846

I was denied warranty by the dealer I took it to because from what I have gathered so far, the district/regional manager thought the pictures I sent looked like chemicals had been used on them.

Does anyone know any of the SRT engineers and talk to them on a regular basis. I don't feel like it is right that they have denied warranty on a non-consumable part of the car that is defective.

I have an 07 Charger with now approx. 29k on it and I have 3 calipers with the clear peeling off them. I have had it to the dealer and still waiting to hear back, I was just trying to see if anyone else has had this issue.

I also plan to ask the SRT engineers this evening when the thread opens up. It is frustrating to see a part that is supposed to be great quality having a quality issue.

I would post some pics, but I cant yet due to the 4 post limit. LOL

I was just going to suggest you ask that this evening! I know there's been the odd case of the paint discolouring due to excessive heat. Probably cooking brake fluid would do this.

Yes, I have read of the overheating issue as well, and that is what the dealer suggested, but if it is a brembo racing brake package I would hope they would have specified/designed the paint to withstand the heat it will experience.

However, mine is still wearing the OEM factory installed brake pads. I do not drive it hard in a manner to be harsh to the brakes, but I drive it the way it was meant to be driven.

Also, the clear coat is actually peeling off the caliper it is not really discolored yet, but with time and corrosion I am sure they will.

I will post a photo hopefully after this.

Do you use a wheel cleaner? I would think that is the most likely cause.
