According to my dad who's owned both (I have yet to go home so I haven't driven the 996), it would be quite a trick to beat a 02-04 996 (or 997) in the SRT8. He seems to be of the opinion that the Porsche is noticeably faster.
True. But it sure would be fun to find out. Plus I bet your dad will be really suprised how fast his 996 really is, in a race like situation. But even more suprised that a 4000 lb + sedan, is staying in the game. Your dad is the type of car owner that I want FreebirdSRT to go after. The high end import market. I have run against american muscle for so many years, been there done that, zzzzzz, lol. I would rather see the looks on a guys face who has spent double and more than the cost of my SRT and the entire time he looks over at me, I got that familiar poop eating grin again. Heck I may get dusted by him, in the end. But I bet he will give the due respect the SRT is due next time one rolls up on him.

$39,920 got me my ticket of admission to the best bang for my buck and all beautifully wrapped in a 4 door saloon no less. Sedan-man Mark gets to ride again.
