I s/w Jack at Precision Industries and he said they recently received a torque converter core from a 300C and they have it on their list of projects for developing a high performance torque converter for the LX 5 speed trans, but have other projects ahead of it. Apparently, they haven't received alot of requests yet for them to build one for our cars. I find this kind of surprising do to the amount of upgrades that members here and in other forums do to their cars. I guess people have been happy with just upgrading the programming of their computers, airbox mods, exhaust, etc. and hadn't considered or heard of the major performance improvements you can get out of a well built high stall speed torque converter.
Let me tell you that as far as bang for the buck goes, you will not get any better performance than you would get with a Precision Industries torque converter. I am speaking from experience as I had one installed in my Lexus GS400. That car felt like it got a 100 shot of NOS after install and 500 lbs lighter. You have the option of choosing the stall speed at order, and can even send it back to them within the 1st 2 years if you want the stall adjusted and they will do it no charge. These units are custom built for the exact specs of our cars, weight, gearing, ft lb torque, etc. These guys build the best aftermarket torque converter, period!! You will easily shave
at least .5 seconds off 1/4 mile and 0-60 times, possibly more depending on the stall speed you choose. This mod would yield perfomance results much better than the Superchips upgrade alone. The unit you would purchase from them is
much better built than any stock or aftermarket converter on any car.

www.converter.com. I believe that this mod combined with the Superchips upgrade will yield performance times very close to the SRT-8. The same torque converter can also be used in the SRT-8 models, but the stall would probably be set higher due to the higher rpms need for max torque, thus improving the performance of that car even more. They also offer group discounts to club members and deal directly with their dealers. I'm guessing Tbyrne and Hennesey will offer these for sale when they are on the market. We just need to pressure Precision to build them.
