Am I missing something here? Is that the fuel economy you're getting? Does diesel give you that much of an improvement?
I just turned 1000 miles, and get a combined (89 oct. gasoline) local/highway of just under 20.

Ouch under 20 mpg, look on the bright side, our petrol is currently running at $6.10 per Us gal.
BB is correct with 31 mpg, but as a diesel engine gets run in, it loossens up, gains pwer and its economy improves.
In gereneral driving I'm getting over 500 miles out of a tank at 35 mpg. On a sustained long distance rum I get over 36 mpg and my best figures so far for a 110 mile run travelling at 70/60/50 mph (in other words keeping to the speed limits) is 42.2 Mpg.
So to answer your question LeoSoFl, in fact you actually get MORE than 31 mpg from a diesel, and even if you drive it really hard, it is still very, very acceptable compared to a petrol
oh, and just another thing, the 300 CRD goes like stink and sounds lovely when pushed hard !!
