One MAJOR issue i am having is that the dealer told me the previous owner was a non-smoker and I didnt notice at the time but in the last few days myself, my girlfriend, and 2 different clients noticed the cigarette smell in my car. A quick inspection of the ash tray shows ash residue so someone definitely smoked in there.

I febrezed the crap out of the carpets last night and let it sit overnight but really saw no change.

Does anyone know a way of getting the cigarette smell out? Should I do something special to the carpets/headliner and something different to the leather? I've heard orange peels, bowls of vinegar, and socks of coffee, but was looking for less urban legend and more purchaseable consumer cleaning product.

I just really want this smell gone as it takes away from the class that I want it to emit.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum! Febreze is a great product on fabric. Much of the smell will be coming from the glass. Use a mixture of warm water and alcohol (4 parts water to 1 part alcohol) and a couple of drops of liquid dish soap. Use clean microfibre cloths soaked in the solution to scrub the nicotine off the inside of the glass. Dry off with a soft dry terry towel until it squeaks.

Wipe down all the other surfaces, including the leather. with some warm water with just a touch of dish soap. clean with a microfibre - dry with a terry towel. Afterwards, put a leather conditioner on the leather to restore the natural oils.

That should do it. Let us know how you make out.

(oh yeah - one other thing - Find a great driving road in the country side, put all the windows down, and drive it like you stole it - it may not remove all the odours, but with a big silly grin on your face, you won't prolly notice them )
