Shortly after returning home from having my S/Cer installed, I noticed that my wideband gauge (reads A/F mixture) was reading a 7.4 (should have been 11.5). I was confused, so I put the WB CD into my laptop to see what trouble shooting events I can do. It told me how to do an on the fly calibration (Which I later found is NOT recommended). I tried this four or five times with no luck. I then figured that maybe I lost the tune. You know, maybe the ECU didn't like the tune. This was on a weekend and I am not the type of person to call a business owner after hours (Hell, they have a life too). So my impatience told me to retune the ECU. Me and a bud did just that. We got the A/F up to 11.3 at high boost and in the 10's on low boost. Drove the car around for a day and a half and then decided to fine tune her. There were three of us and we decided to use my friends wideband as it was easier for him to read while in the back seat. We did a test run to compare numbers.... Uh-oh..... The WB was reading a 16.8 A/F. OH SHIAT!!! We all freeked out at first, then started to richen up the fuel... Took us a couple of hours to do so. We got the A/F to an even 11.2 across the boost band and were doing one last run for a double check... Detonation then occured............ Yup, this was COMPLETELY my FAULT

I had the sled towed to my dealership as I would have them do all the work. The next day, I called GSM and left a message on Scotts VM........ Within 15 minutes, Scott was returning my call in disbelief....... He lectured me on why I should have called him on a Saturday late evening........ Yea, right.... Again, I don't call people with work related issues after hours.... I surely do not like it when I get calls about work on my time off, and I am sure all of you don't either.

My dealer took charge and began the very long venture of doing the engine swap........ During this time, Scott and I had exchanged many phone calls and emails about the engine. I asked Scott to send me an invoice for the parts that I needed. I can tell you that Scott stepped up to the plate....... I will not share my cost as it is between him and I, but I can tell you, Scott did not have to do what he did for me. Thanks Scott, you are truely a great businessman. It took the dealer two full months to get me my ride back. I can tell you that the dealer rushed the work during the last two days that they had it as I was going on vacation and wanted my car back.... Needless to say, I got the car a day later than promised. I did not have the dealer put the S/Cer back in as I was driving the sled for my vacation and had made arrangements for GSM to reinstall the S/Cer... I wanted to break in the new engine as an N/A application. It was a good thing to.... After I put about 600 miles on the new engine, it started acting up. I got her to GSM and Scott and crew began to install the S/Cer. Oh yea, Scott also upgraded several pieces at no charge.

Scott heard how bad she was sounding and the amount of smoke that would blow out the pipes during startup, and begged me to keep the car with him. I declind as I needed to go north to meet the parents.

I did just that. I got no farther than Pismo Beach (250 miles) when the motor started going into limp mode and burning about 3 quarts of oil... Uh-oh.
The number 4 cylinder failed. I know this because I pulled the plugs and found the plugs to be SCREWED!

This is Sunday and I need to find a towing company to tow the sled back to GSM.... Found one (Expensive), called Scott and he agreed to meet the tow truck at his shop. Scott must have been at his shop around 2:30ish until the truck finally showed up at around 8:30pm Sunday. Now, if this isn't excellent service on GSM's part, I do not know what is. Thanks again Scott.

On Monday, my car was the priority of GSM. More great Customer Service. I did not expect this at all. By noonish, Scott was calling me to inform me that he found that the rocker arm was not propperly adjusted and it push the valve and valve seat into the cylinder scaring the sleeves. Great I need another Block. WTF!!! Scott told me there was an alternative.... Forge the bottom end.... Well, that is exactly what GSM is doing for me now. Thanks Scott.... And for a great price.... Which, by the way, I will be collecting all costs from dealership. They were at fault on this one.... remember, I did not have the S/Cer installed by the dealer.

Scott and his team at GSM have been 100% great during my trying times and need to be commended on their OUTSTANDING cooperation on getting me the parts I needed and always keeping the communcations going....

There are always two sides to a story, so I thought that I would share both of my sides of the story. GSM has been Terrific to work with and purchase great products from.

I did not say anything during the last two or so months as I knew that some of the haters would try and make this into something it never was, GSM's fault. It was and always has been my fault for being impatient and tuning the Fuel Management when not fully understanding what the issue was.
Great write-up 4dr.

Question/s: How much did the new engine cost at the dealership? And do you think the dealership is really going to give in and pay for the engine? Don't you think they'll try to fight that saying you probably installed your sc again?

Thanks.
