If I turn the headlights on before I start the car it seems to help with the problem, sometimes they don't flash at all.

If anyone else has installed an aftermarket kit, and does not have this problem, please let me know the manufacture of the kit.

I am running a McCulloch one.

I have personally installed two aftermarket HID kits and I can’t exactly recall why, but you are NEVER supposed to turn your lights on first before starting you car. Don’t confuse this with just turning your lights on without starting your car.

With both on these cars with aftermarket HID’s, I start the car first, then I turn the lights on, initially the lights have a bluish hue to them until they warm up. Which takes about 10-30 seconds, at that point I’ll get an occasional flicker now and then. As far as I know all HID’s taken time to warm up, remember that they are filled with gas particles.

I should have mentioned that Philips makes my kits. I know that a lot of aftermarket HID kits being sold nowadays are of very poor quality and often times being passed off as some other manufacture
Maybe you got a knock off type of HID kit? Where did you get your HID’s from?
