The Japanese symbol for Mazda is actually pronounced Matsuda, with an almost silent 'u'.
most people know this already:
boondocks - from the early 20th century when American soldiers occupied the Philippines, from the Tagalog word "bundok" meaning mountain, thus boondocks or boonies in English is for where there are no people or houses
Amuck - as in someone running amuck, from the Mindanao word "amok" for when a Filipino wrapped himself in rattan 'armor' (again during American pacification of the Philippines) and attacked well-armed American soldiers with a long knife called bolo in the local language, known as machete to most Americans. No ordinary pistol bullets could stop the armored warrior, until the Colt .45 was brought over. In colloquial American English, running amuck means something like going postal - until he is subdued or terminated.
