Hi Everyone
My name is Robin and I live about 30 east of Champaign, IL and work in Champaign. My husband and I have bought our dream place 5 years ago, which is a place in the country on 3 acres with 2 garages and a 30x40 building that my husband insulated and put heat in. (Also a refrigerator, satellite TV, stereo, neon lights, sheet metal from race cars, lots of banners and signs that we "picked up" at the race tracks.) We have two boys that are grown in live in Indianapolis. Our "kids" now are our dogs, one a mutt from the Humane Society named Charlotte, a one year old golden retriever named Eldora and an 11 year old Golden named Bristol. My husband and I both love auto racing. (Any yes, the dogs are named after my favorite race tracks) Tom is partial to drag racing and I love dirt track racing (We are also Nascar fans).
Okay, so that is the history on myself. Now about my car. Since I have to commute everyday I was looking for a car that would be fun to drive to make the chore of going to work more exciting. Boy, did I pick the right car!!!! My husband and myself have always been GM people (never owned anything but GM) until I saw a half hour "infommercial" about the Crossfire on a satellite channel. We went to our Chrysler dealer to look at the Crossfire. Tom took one look at it and shrugged his shoulders and walked over to a base 300. Well, we took the base 300 for a test drive and liked it. At that time the dealer did not have any 300C's. We decided that if we were switching to a Chrysler it would be for the Hemi. I put our salesmen on the hunt for a 300C and I had told him any color but black. Finally got a phone call a few weeks later from him and they had a 300C that they had just gotten in. Since we hadn't driven a 300 with a Hemi he told us to come and drive it. When I pulled up in front of the dealer's lot and saw the 300C sitting there (and of course, it was black) I bought it on the spot without even driving it!!!!
Now my 30 minute drive one way is alot more fun!!!! In previous posts people have talked about the attention they get driving their 300. That is the absolute truth!!! Everywhere I go people ask me about my car and if I like it. We drove it to the drag races in Joliet this summer and when we came back to the car there were several people looking at it. When we walked up they wanted us to pop the hood and of course, we obliged. We had a group around the car for over an hour and when one group would walk away, here would come more people interested in looking inside and under the hood. I bet by the time we finally left the parking area we had had over 30 people look at my car.
I have had people try to race me and so far I have only taken the challenge on once and absolutely blew the idiot's doors off!!!!! But I like my license too much to do that very many times.
This forum is the best and I am very grateful to have found it. The information everyone provides is amazing and so helpful especially when it comes to talking to the Service dept.
I am looking forward to getting to know everyone and hopefully be able to attend any get togethers that may be set up this summer.
