3rd Gen SRT8 supercharged!!!

Ok guys, got some news on the hellcat, I'm in Detroit and I got a high ranking SRT Exec giving me the goods, he has all access and gave this info on good faith, yea, he's gonna hate me for this but thought I'd let you guys know the real deal.

They developed a 6.2 supercharged new engine for the SRT8.

The engine will come in the new challenger/barracuda in 2015 and will follow Into the 300's and chargers in 2016-17😞

They will issue driver step keys, driver step keys are as follows: when you purchase the car you will have a key that only allows between 400 and 500 HP, you have to take a SRT class to get the full key which will unlock full power, I have no idea how long this class takes or how fast after purchasing these cars you can take them. Sounds crazy but man it sounds like Chrysler!!!

Cars will retail for $70k and up...

Testing so far has produced 680hp to the crank but they are shooting for 700+ before release, they want it to be impressive, high 10's 1/4 mile straight from the factory (GTR kills)

There is talks of an all wheel drive application that shuts down after 35mph for needed traction but this is unconfirmed...

That's about it, if you know anything else please add to this, I've given all the info I got so I probably won't have answers to questions beyond what I've already talked about.

Sounds to me there trying to be like the veron.. where you need a special key if you want to go over 200mph.

maybe by then they'll figure out how to attach carbon to the dash where it doesn't peel off in a year.

If they price them that hard then the sales numbers will drop... I'm sure its because they feel they are directly competing with Mercedes AMG cars and the M5's of this world that will fetch similar numbers. In fairness I could agree to a point, however you will not (for some stupid reason) ever pit a piece of Detroit iron supersaloon against a Euro supersaloon and actually get the same $ numbers across the board, its a perception thing. The people with 70-90k to drop on a car in that class as general rule want a balance of power, luxury, dependability and prestige... Unfortunately that pay grade also has a way of thinking that no matter what the facts won't put prestige and Chrysler in the same sentence, or in their driveways... And that's a shame! It sounds like it will be a beast and I just hope there will be enough die hard chrysler and dodge guys with wallets to keep it alive till I can justify the purchase! With that stupid key in hand... Dumb idea of the century... It's not a bloody veyron...

Not sure I believe it myself. I'll wager the price will be similar to what the previous model is and that there will be no special key.
