I didn't realize the car icons were there before but something new that I did notice is in the "+ More" menu under "SRT" and then "Options" you have more color options for your car before I only had the choice of Black and Red. Now there are a total of 5 (black, red, silver, charcoal, and my favorite white)

I haven't been anywhere yet to tell, but I doubt it. I'd say you need the SRT + More on the bottom right of the screen in order to get 3D.

Edit: I guess it's easy to tell that difference for the SRT8. I wonder of the non SRT cars if they have any obvious difference in the radio firmware.

Does anyone with the 2012 with the updated console software have the ability to select between normal, sport and track? And is there any noticeable difference between them? My guess is that you can only select sport or normal because the shocks and tranny are not calibrated for the track mode and this is just a front end interface change that has no "guts" on the back end.
I am picking up my 2012 300SRT8 on Friday and have asked the dealer to make sure the firmware is updated so at least I can take advantage of the 3D maps

Even with the upgraded unconnect the parts are different so only 2 modes are available - read this in other threads and forums. The 3 mode isn't worthless but the extra mode really isn't a big deal. I would like the launch control though. I think it's horse shit to offer a feature like that without the ability to upgrade a model year less than a year old. It's as bad as Apple upgrades.

Thank you Meatheads300!! You also answered my follow up question as I was going to see if launch control was available too. Arg... So I have to assume that the bilsteins are not "continuously adjustable" like the CTS-V system or Chrysler is being a big cheap ass and disabling it on our models. Kind of like how all 300s have auto lights but were only active if you ordered it or were lucky enough to see the post that showed how to update the knob.

The stock 2012 300srt suspension is active and continuously variable in all modes. It also adjust steering and braking. The modes just change aggressiveness.

The extra mode on the newer car allows you to have aggressive shifting without a stiffened ride, whereas the older car only allows normal driving and track mode which adjusts the ride and the shifting together.

I would doubt the active dampening is as technologically advanced as the CTS-V since that car is in a performance and price class above the SRT8; howver the idea is the same. Probably more adjustment in the CTS as well but I don't know for sure. I'm sure with the SRT being years newer the electronic ride control isn't that far behind, but I really don't know the engineering behind the systems.

I have a 2012 with the updated console software and I'm only able to select between normal and track mode. The sport mode won't activate or even light up on the screen so what used to be called sport mode before the update is now called track. So your guess is correct they just changed the terminology....

Garmin has added the new update to the 13's and a few other features. That is what makes up some of the subtle differences between the 2 years! the new update with the 3d buildngs is 150 from garmin and probably wont be released as a flash either
