I have the Jet 180 tstat without tuner yet. The only thing I would suggest is getting a Billet Tech water neck, it looks much better and you already need to remove the stock one to change the tstat.

This is new to me, what do you mean by water neck? Is that the housing that the hose clamps into and you bolt down to the thermostat?

I've been running the Auto Zone #4128 180*F t-stat since January 2006 without any issues what so ever. And the price is right: about $15. Coolant temperature gets down into the 183-187 range on the coolest/coldest days, just warm enough to mostly avoid the P0571 DTC.

Despite what Auto Zone says on their website, it is only 0.5 mm larger in diameter than the stock t-stat. With a little squirt of silicon lube on the gasket (transfered from the stock t-stat), and some friendly persuasion, it fits nice and snug. Or you can file a quarter millimeter off all around if it makes you feel better.

Yes. The factory water neck is a cheap looking stamped steel piece. The BT billet unit is much nicer.

The lower temp stat is a proven mod that works well due to Chrysler's sensitive programming.

The jet 180 works well and does not throw codes in 6.1's, it should be a good fit for you. I run the 176 MotoRad, and it will throw a code if you tip toe around too much.

The key is oil temp, and our engines have no problems getting the oil nice and hot!

I have the Jet 180. Bought on line from Summit Racing. Great mod to have if you have the Predator or the other tuners where you can adjust fan settings. Get it!!!!

180 t-stat??? Yes or no???

I've been running the 180F stat from Autozone (the 4128, I think) in my wife's '06 and its really a 175F stat. Car runs at 176-177F consistently and repeatedly throws the P0128 code. I'm about to swap in a Stant 48799 which is a 190F stat.

I haven't tried the Jet 180.

The engine trouble code is for coolant temp, not oil temp, and the cutoff is 180F.

You must have ended up with a 4127, which is a great tstat for the summer as it runs at 177+. A 4128 runs at 188 or above. The beauty of the Jet is that it hits 188-189 and then settles to 185, a perfect temp when the wheels are turning. It gets high enough to keep the error code from coming back up, but always keeps you from running in the 190+ knock retard range.

Of course anytime you drive in town with the a/c on the temp spikes.

I remember in 2006 when i had my Magnum srt8 i installed a 180 t-stat but we did NOT have a tuner then we used to pull the fan fuse and jump it what was that fuse number...i mean that works good at the track no?...To do it that way?..if you didnt want to change the fan settings and still run the cooler t-stat and just jump the fans at the track..can you do that?
