Of course the code is for coolant temp. The reference to oil is made as a reminder that the oil temp is much more important in terms of WEAR, as you don't want it too cool.

The PO128 code is tripped by 3 trips with no full warmup (under 180 degrees) in ten minutes.

It will also clear itself with three good trips. My car is very sensitive to this and requires a blast or two to assure proper temp is reached with my Motorad 4127.

Go for it... I remember before the Tstat my SRT tend to get less responsive but now the performance is very consistent
