Remote Start Question...

So, both Tahoes I previously owned (2007 and 2012) came w/ remote start w/ intelligent climate control (i.e., I can remote start the vehicle and in the winter, the heater would automatically warm up the inside and in summer, vice versa). I believe even the NBS Ford Explorer has this feature. So, I asked the salesman if the 300 SRT had this capability as well...he told me yes, it'll cool down in summer and heat in winter, etc...etc... WELL, I've since found that my 2013 only has the configurable option to turn on/off the heated/cooled seats on remote startup... So, been pretty warm here in MD area and the HVAC doesn't seem to be running when I get in the car after remote starting, but the cooled seating does come on, as advertised... Checked the owner's manual and all it says is, essentially, you can remote start and it'll run for 15 minutes, but it says nothing about heating or cooling the compartment... So what gives? Those of you who own the 2012 or 2013 SRT, does the intelligent HVAC work when you remote start it? Need to know if I'm doing something wrong or if something is broke or "works as designed". AND, if this is not a feature, then CJDR??? Probably the only feature I'll miss from my SUV...

The AC and heat do work with the remote start system. I always leave the AC on when I turn off the car so when I turn it back on the AC or heat turn on depending on the temperature.

I have had the remote start on GM cars and now on Chrysler and IMO I think it's easier to use on the Chrysler as all you have to do is press the remote button 2 times. On GM cars you have to push the lock button first then press the remote button and leave it pressed until it turns on, also on GM cars when you get in the car and turn the ignition on after remote start the AC and radio turns off then on again and on Chrysler everything just stays on.

Leave your climate control in Auto when you turn off the car. If it's off, it will not automatically turn on with remote start.

AHH SOOO... So the Chryslers don't come w/ the "intelligent" climate control, but leaving it in "Auto" pretty much does the same...pretty much. Thanks for that idea, toasteroven! Although, in the GMs, if it's say "mild" outside, ~ 55 - 65 degrees (F), nothing will turn on because the ambient temp in the cabin doesn't call for it. But leaving it in Auto sounds pretty slick! Think I'll give that a try...and if the blowers stay on even after depressing the ignition, like MIASRT8 informed us above, then that would be cool too! I didn't appreciate how you had to turn your HVAC back on after turning the key in the GMs... You know, I REALLY wish these salesmen would get better acquainted w/ their product...sucks when they can't answer your questions (let alone CORRECTLY) when you're about to make the next to the largest purchase in your life (second only to one's house, in most cases)...

There is also an option for enabling or disabling the system (along with the heated wheel separately) in UConnect settings. It should come from the factory / dealership ON by default.

I leave the HVAC system on AUTO all the time, and the only time I turn it off is on mild days with the windows down. If I recall correctly, heated options turn on if the temperature is lower than 4C, and cooled options come on if it's hotter than 24C. I've also found that the temperature sensor itself takes a minute or two to "figure out" the correct temperature.

I believe the enable/disable setting is only for heated/vented seats...not HVAC. I did ensure that was set to "on" in the Auto/Comfort settings... Haven't found the auto setting for the heated steering wheel as of yet...no need right now I guess as summer is right around the corner.

Yeah, we had a couple of days in the 90s already and one of those days my temp readout displayed 121 degrees when I first got in!

I'm quite sure the AC will return to the last setting. Above 80 degrees the ventilated seats will (should) turn on. I'm not sure what the low temperature is but the heated steering wheel will turn on when it's cold enough.
