Yes, it's a soft seal. The sealant looks like tar and is very soft after you bake the headlight in the oven. I know there is a name for that type of sealant, I just don't know what it's called.

The headlight will come apart fairly easily if the seal is soft enough. I baked my headlight @240* but you can probably get away with 250* if you feel that 240* might not soften the seal enough for you.

Just keep in mind that It's not my fault if you mess up your headlight in the process.

I used a can of paint and primer in one from Home Depot.

I took a look at my headlights today and the paint is starting to bubble right underneath the projector. that said, i would buy a separate paint and primer. Try and get a high temp spray paint of you can.

What sux is that im eventually going to have to crack them open and do it all over again.

That Sucks!

I've painted a few headlights in my time and have always taken these steps which have helped me to avoid paint problems.

1. lightly scuff area(s) to be painted with 3M Scotch Brite pad (Red one)
2. Wash item to be painted with mild dish soap/Let dry
3. Wipe item to be painted with denatured alcohol/Let dry (Use latex gloves)
4. 2-3 coats of approprite colored primer/Allowing 10min between each application. (San Diego rule of thumb. LOL)
5. 3-4 coats of High Temp paint (Engine/BBQ).

I've also always ran a bead of high temp silicone to combat condensation, which seems to be a big issues with our headlights.

I finally got around to ordering a set of Morimoto H-11 HID's in 3K for my fogs and will be painting my headlight bezels black to finish off the look of my SRT Clone.

I decided to give Plasti Dip a shot so that in the event I don't like the blacked out look any longer I can just peel it off. The only concern I have is that it might not stand up to the heat. Only time will tell. I will update everyone when installation/painting is complete!

Wish Me Luck!

blk300limited if you want to make a day of refinishing our headlight bezels let me know as I know you were planning on redoing yours as well.
