Painting headlights to mimic the blacked out "S" lights.

Anyone attempt to dismantle their headlights and paint the inside portion to convert their headlights into the S model ones? I'm dying to do this but I'd rather wait and let someone else experiment

I want to do it too so I went to the dealership and took some high res photos of the headlights from an SRT8. I can dig them up and email them to you if you would like.

I would have already done it if I had the time...

It's a matter of baking the headlights in the oven (low and slow, just enough to soften the sealant between the front and back halves), separating the two sections, prepping and painting the buckets, adding whatever LED or CCFL aux lighting you want, then resealing the sections.

I have the black headlights on my 300S, but they are the bi-halogen since I did not get the safetytec option with xenon HID lights. I plan to buy a set of xenon HID lights and then crack them open and paint the insides in white to match my bright white 300S color. Then add Oracles colorshift halo kit and then reseal them up. But I will not do this project for a few months from now.

You can add an aftermarket HID kit to my bi-halogen headlights, if all you want is the black headlights like my S. I will sell you my set of stock 300S bi-halogen headlights if you want.

The Bi-halogen hedlights have the extended tube around the halogen bi-lens. The Halo ring will not fit properly on the end of that ring.

Using the HID headlight fits the halo ring around the HID lens much better.

It's not hard to do, crack open the headlights and paint the inside. I did the same thing on my SuperBee headlights and added the CCFL white halos. In the fall I plan to re-crack the bee headlights and add the colorshift halos as there is a yellow color that is perfect match to my bee with the colorshifts.

Like Freebird I also cracked mine open on my 06 Charger and had them painted and airbrushed. Not that hard to do, just have to be patient and not rush thru it. I'm also going to paint mine either black or white over the winter on the 300, unless Freebird sells his at a price I can swing.
Freebird sent you a pm on your headlights.

Mark,

The little wing underneath the projector is black in your headlight. In all of the other ones that I have seen, it is silver (which I dislike). Is this because you don't have the xenons?

You're right, it is silver and I never noticed it.

From what I have seen from the new 300's in our SCLX club.

There are two different sets of all black (black inside like pic below) headlights for the new 2012 300's that come standard.

1. Black Xenon HID: 300SRT (standard) 300S V6/V8 (standard with safetytec option) Maybe on other 300 models as well, I haven't seen them in person yet.

2. Black Bi-Halogen: 300S V6/V8 (standard with out safetytec option) like my headlight below.
