The new guy! 300s owner 2013...picked up today!

Hey everyone! I know, without pics this thread will be worthless; not my first rodeo. I promise new pics will be coming soon...

Just picked up a 2013 white 300s with following options:

Safety tech
Light group
Pano roof

I was talked into a v8 hemi instead of the v6 bc of some options and availability with rebates. He also said the hemi actually gets comparably fuel economy on highway because of the valve shut down and updates to programming. I still don't believe him and from my very fun and heavy foot driving am barely seeing 15. I obviously will not be driving like that usually and will be 80% highway because of work. I have searched through the forum and see a measly 18 might be the best I could expect is there any hope to see the magic 25 average or at least 22?

I also feel that my 300s is very similar looking to the beautiful srt8... Plan on adding the spoiler on back and changing a few cosmetics. I really like my wheels and thought the suspension needs a really small drop (1/2 inch)...springs would be the way I would travel. Can I use the srt8 springs instead of aftermarket ones? It looks like that car is just a little lower than me and I really don't want to loose my ride quality...

Last question - can I get an intake and expect a few more mpg's?

Very happy to join you all and will hopefully not get too crazy on the mod train.

I have the Hemi on my 300C and wouldn't trade it for a V-6 unless gas becomes $10 a gallon...besides 8's are an endangered species and available on very few new cars these days. Soon you won't find one unless it's on a $100K German import (I'm serious because of ever tightening yearly corporate AVERAGE fuel economy (CAFE) numbers each mfr has to achieve they can't sell too many 8's otherwise it will LOWER their AVERAGE.)

BTW, if you use the cruise control and keep it under 65 it is VERY easy to achieve 22-24 MPG on this car. In fact I bought mine 150 miles from home and on the drive home from the dealer I got 24 MPG doing 60 on cruise and have routinely seen low 20's anytime I use cruise on a highway trip. Around town you will realistically see high 15's to low 18's MPG due to the fact that the MDS won't kick in that often and cut out 4 cylinders to save gas. Learn to use the ECO light on your dash EVIC display properly because that tells you when you're in 4 cylinder mode during coasting and/or LIGHT acceleration. You'll learn a heavy foot and jack rabbit starts will kill your gas mileage.

LOVE that HEMI! Enjoy your car!

Congrats!

What you have my friend was my original choice, but my dealership was unable to locate one with all the options that I wanted back in 2011.
Ended up getting a 300C with every option available which I've absolutely grown to love. I've been working dilligently to source parts to make it a 3SRT clone with a touch of luxury.
I too have been wondering if the 3SRT suspension will swap over to our platform because I too want a subtle drop 1" preferably so i don't lose the ride comfort.

Welcome to the board and hope you are able to fight off the "Mod Bug"

Thanks guys! I am jus t a little disappointed thinking that I got a little duped from the v6 but I have to say that when I test drove it against the hemi I had a smile from ear to ear...it's def got some torque!

I have spent a few days looking through before I posted - wanted to make sure I checked before I asked. I am driving this car as my daily driver and can't make it too flashy (any more than is) so I don't look ridiculous in front of clients. That being said, I need to hear my car and right now it sounds like a four cylinder.

The other crazy thing is a price for the srt8 spoiler from dealer installed. They want $800 to get it, paint it, and install it. Wow that's an exhaust...

1. Will intake help fuel economy that much?
2. Srt8 springs work and how would they feel
3. Spacers? Can I us e them to get a little more offseted look?
4. Do we have any launch control or something similar?
5. Can I have the winning lotto ticket numbers for next Saturday?

Spoiler is just for looks bro. Btw, the 3.6 pentastar is a far more advanced and efficient engine than the HEMI. Besides...the 8 speed only came with the v6 in the 2012 model...and I had to have it.

Welcome aboard!

The V8 is really 'tight' when new. You'll see better fuel ecomony after 3-4,000 miles on the engine.

Welcome and congrats on the new car!

The spoiler helps with downforce at speeds you probably won't see with any regularity.

An intake coupled with an exhaust and tuning will help fuel mileage.

Any spacers you purchase need to be hub centric. Otherwise, be prepared for a terrible vibration up front.

You don't have a launch control system. ESP & traction control come standard.

Numbers are 07 26 49 53 71 13

Welcome. I'm also the new owner of a 300S. We got the V6 due to fuel economy. And, my wife wouldn't have been able to tell the difference. I love the Hemi in my truck but the Pentastar with 8-speed was just too good to pass up.

Hey Wizo - congrats on the sweet ride. As for mileage, I've managed about 24-25 on highway with a very 'youthful' right foot. You should have no problem averaging 22 or better with that V8. Good luck and, most of all, have fun
