Problem getting flooded with text messages with bluetooth and uconnect

Hey everyone I recently traded in my 2006 300C for a 2012 C and the features are amazing. Huge difference in look and feel. I'm also starting to warm up to the new look.

I only have one problem with it and it's regarding the bluetooth with uconnect and text messaging.
When I connect my phone to the uconnect system via bluetooth everything looks fine until I get flooded with old text messages from different numbers on my phone. The system says it outloud and it gets extremely annoying. I don't want to text message through my bluetooth system. The only thing I was to use my bluetooth for is for music and an occasional phone call. Even then, I don't mind using the speaker for making calls. Is there anyway to prevent the system from accessing my text messages and flooding my screen with them? It doesn't show the actual text message but it keeps flashing tons of older messages before even allowing me to use the music player. Thanks very much!

Mine doesn't receive text messages but I think our phones cannot send texts thru bluetooth. Did you look at the settings on the uconnnect. That would be pretty annoying.

My Droid Bionic used to pop up text messages all the time but my iPhone 4S does not. I have no idea how you would stop it.

I'm starting to think that it's an android thing. Also, sometimes it connects to the music sometimes it doesn't. It's very random but I guess this is new technology for chrysler
