Picked up a used 2012 300 2 weeks ago.The battery has started going dead-3 times now over night.Going into dealer tomorrow.Any of you guys got any ideas about this.The service mgr said the car needs to be driven every day.I think thats BS.If you can give me some amo to talk with.
It could be a great number of things. The 2011 Chargers were notorious for problems with the keyless entry that possibly could have drained the battery. I had my battery die in my Charger and drop voltage due to a loose negative battery terminal.

their trip?
Tell the owner of the dealership what he said and don't go back there again, ever!
I previously owned 2008 Hyundai Azera that had a CD hung up in the 6 cd changer and after sitting for two days, out come the jumper cables. Also, Hyundai had switch on the hood that would activate the alarm system. If the switch was out of alignment between the hood and fender, it would drain down the battery in 2-3 days. All new cars have so many electrial components that may be small, but can draw strong amps if out of alignment, bad connections etc, and sit for a couple days batteries can die.
Service dept called last night said the battery was just about dead when we took it in but they really couldnt could find any thing wrong.Daaaaaa the battery was about dead.They wanted us to pick it up but i said no lets leave it till at least saturday.I think ill leave it till next tue.The wife has minor surgery on mon and i really dont want to take the 300 up to the door banging parking garage.By tue that fr---iii battery will be dead again.
Replace the battery. Even if you have a problem that caused the battery to die, you will still need a new battery....... this one is toast as it has been totally discharged too many times.
My thoughts exactly.I made contact a second time on sat and asked the service tec if he had done a load test on the battery.No answer.I then asked if he would take a voltage reading now then again on monday.He said thats a good idea.
I believe even a load test on the battery is a waste of time. The only thing you can do is see if there is a phantom load on the battery when the vehicle is in the shop. This may not even solve the problem because something in the car can come on and then go off. I will use an example from my past experiences.
I had a custom van many years ago. It had a TV and VCR in it. The battery went dead, just like your vehicle. The VCR was hooked up to a circuit that was live all the time. The VCR had a "Dew" switch in it. This switch was a small heating element that came on when a sensor detected moisture in the unit. The heater was to keep the electronics dry. When the VCR was off it drew no current, but when the dew switch activated it could kill the battery. Moving the unit to an ignition circuit solved the problem.
Here I go again.While waiting at the hospital yesterday the service dept called.Now this thing went in on friday and they did a voltage check yesterday 11.9 volts,but the car did start so i could come and pick it up.that Didnt happen.They also stated that on some 300s that are on the lot they have to pull some fuses so the battery doesnt go dead.Im going to make two phone calls this morning,one to the oregon dealership I bought the car at and another to the chrysler customer service line.Twenty five years ago I was part owner of a tire store and as far as i know battery voltage thats at 11.9 is a dead battery.I guess I could be wrong.IM older and have a much much shorter fuse.
