Radar Detector

Does anyone have experience with hard wiring a radar detector in a 2013 300s? I don't want the cable slung over my beautiful dash. I've seen some hard wiring kids that connect to the rear view mirror but it looks like they won't work for this model of car.

Any input is appreciated, thanks!

Check with WIZO he hard wired a Valentine V1 so he may have some pointers for ya!

Install should be the same for v1 or other detectors. Once you buy the kit that gives you the longer wires to install by concealment - check to see that you don't already have them, then you can continue. There is a YouTube clip - search for it; that show how to install a new radio/gps in a chyrsler or dodge charger. Once you have the center console removed so you can access the rear of you cigarette lighter it's pretty simple.

The red wire back there is hot and to ground it I attached that wire to a screw with a bolt. There is thread I started where I went bonkers trying to figure out how to ground it correctly till I figured that it's easier to do it that way - you will see there is a whole bunch of plastic in there and no metal once you take it apart.

Thanks for all the feedback, here are the issues I have.

If I mount it to the rearview mirror and use the power from it I loose the mute and alert button the radar detector.

If I use the hardwire kit with mute button from Passport its designed to connect to the fuse box (in the trunk). That doesn't seem doable for me.

So looks like my only option is to get the basic flat cord with mute button, run the cable from the detector (mid window) to the cig light (but the door won't close with it plugged in. My only issues with this is taking apart the dash and finding a good spot for the cable to come out of the dash on the top.

I paid $50 bucks for Best Buy to hard wire mine in... If you can swing that take it to them and get a warranty. Passport 9500ix

Why went your door close?? Seems strange to me. I had mine wired in to my magnum... Across the windshield strewn the driver side A column, behind the dash and into the cigarette lighter. Used the flat cord with mute and it's done the same way on my '12 300S... No worries at all.

the little door the closes over the cigarette lighter, sorry should have been more clear. It won't close because the mute button would extend 2 far.

Did you take your dash apart or just hide it somehow?

I do like the idea of just having best buy do it, considering they don't jack up my car.
