I wish the system could be set so that the car would actually apply its brakes, at any time necessary, not just in the Adaptive Cruise mode.

I've driven a few cars that have the "apply brakes!!" automatically and it's not as intuitive as you think. Most of the time, my FCW goes off because someone is turning in front of me and decides to come to a near-stop mid-turn. Most of the time, I've already slowed and have some idiot tailgating me; the car snapping on the brakes would result in a rear-end tap from that tailgater, instead of me flicking the wheel slightly to go around.

In the reverse of the scenario, when I turn off and someone behind me is too close I also get the blind-spot warning.

I like barely-intrusive driver aids; where Chrysler has them is near perfect. I don't like where we're going; making up for inattentive drivers. If the system tied into ParkSense as well as the blind-spot monitoring, it may be workable.

one way to check out that feature would be to drive down your street at a moderate speed and have a friend pull out of their driveway while you are approaching! that's how it's supposed to work... the other way is to not pay attention while using the ACC and whave a friend unexpectedly hit brakes in front of you... I normally have mine go off when i'm playing in traffic using the sport mode tranny and get a tad too close to the car ahead of me..
Good luck and please be safe!!!

The first time it came on my 300C I was going down a hill towards a RR track. It start going off about 100 feet away (far setting). I've also seen it go off in ACC mode. I was cruising along in heavy traffic with it around 70mph. I saw stopped traffic ahead so I wanted to see what happened with my foot over the brake pedal. The ACC slowed the car down to around 10mph then the BRAKE warning buzzer/light came on. You can have a friend drive in front of you, turn on the ACC, have him slow down to zero slowly. Keep your foot over the pedal just in case you do have a problem.

Of course make sure you have it set to far or near first.

You will need a third person to operate the cameraphone for when this goes horribly wrong!

The front corner of my car is probably still "seeing" the rear corner of his. The FCW thinks I shouldn't do this apparently.
This is when mine usually goes off as well.

I have only seen the FCW activate one time while driving. This occured when someone stepped off the sidewalk and into the street as I was passing by him.
