Exterior Door Pull Frozen

My Drivers exterior door pull does not open the door. It was cold out, and I got a wash last nite, assuming it is frozen, it opens from the inside just fine, and the handle is not loose...any ideas? Any prevention methods?

Thanks!

You can heat it up with some warm water (don't hit the glass with it!) and try to avoid washing the car when it's sooooo cold out.

Agreed...but the mechanism on the inside is where I think the problem lies...the handle pulls just fine, but it does not disengage the latch.

that means you need to get in behind the door panel and check to see if the lock pawl and/or latch rod are properly attached.
