Dealer solution to solving the HEADLIGHT CONDENSATION issue....

Hey everybody, I purchased a new 300C AWD and noticed the condensation on the headlights at the dealership. I asked the salesman is that "normal" he said YES! it will dry out when the headlights go on. Well I've had the car for about 3 weeks and it has just got worse. I took it to the dealership today and the guy at technician at the service desk laughed when I told him about the problem. Anyways the dealership by my place said

WE WILL DRILL HOLES ON THE TOP AND BOTTOM OF YOUR HEADLIGHTS and that will resolve your condensation issue??????? ARE YOU KIDDING $55000 car and you want to drill holes on the god damn headlights?

Does anyone think this is a good idea? i think they want to use my car as a guinea pig.

Should i allow them to attempt the hole drilling? they say it will be covered under warranty because they are performing the repair. Thanks guys.

Do not drill or allow them to drill the lighting units.

No, that's not a good idea. The reason you have condensation is that there is a gap somewhere in the connections to the bulbs (make sure the little rubber washers or felt washers are in place) or the seal between the front and rear half is faulty or the housing is cracked somewhere.

They need to be sealed to avoid condensation. And these guys want to drill holes in the headlights???? Flippin' lazy if ya ask me.

I have the same problem. Both headlights. I have not mentioned it as yet to my dealer, but will post their response when I get it. I know their answer will be replace. Technician now days are part fitters and not technicians. Is it just us two or has it happened to a few cars?

there's suppose to be a tsb out soon according to another posting....

it seems like chrysler is shifting this problem to the headlamp housing supplier, in hopes that the supplier has finally fixed this issue.

I guess the supplier will have to keep supplying new headlamp housings until they fix the problem.

Ok great thanks for the input guys, also i mentioned the "dust covers" to the dealer because another member had said they had them installed and it minimized the condensation. But the dealer had no clue what i was talking about? Do american dealers and canadian dealers stock different items?

No, they don't stock different items. But if you have HID's, then the covers should have come on the car.

Guys, there is already a TSB covering this. Search existing threads with keywords "condensation".

Obviously, do not allow these full on retards to drill into your light housing!

Ok, can you see if the covers are on without physically taking anything apart on the car?
