uConnect 8.4 - What phones support Messaging and Metadata?

Hey guys,

just wondering - what phones do support the messaging and metadata feature of the 8.4 uconnects? I have a phone compatibility list dated "Version 3/7/2011" here but in this list actually NO phone tested evens supports those features. Since the list is rather outdated, can someone speak from experience or has a new list?

I know about the online thingy at chrysler - Uconnect but i don't have the nerve to test each and every device there - i sort of need a search the other way around

thanks guys!

I have an IPhone 5 and it currently does not support messaging. Kind of a bummer...

Yesterday I used my Chrysler Concierge app on my iPhone 4S to chew out Chrysler for not ensuring that the uconnect specification for messaging was compatible with one of the most widely used phones on the market. I also asked if they would be releasing a software upgrade in the near future. No response as of yet but will keep you posted.

And messaging doesn't work either with my Samsung Galaxy SIII which is the number 1 Android phone in the world !!! That means these two number 1 selling models TODAY, of either Apple and Android cell phones (over 50% of phones sold!), doesn't work or support the text messaging feature? You got to be kidding me- right?!?

Of all the things I love about my 300C’s long list of standard features and technology, I am really disappointed in the "overselling" of this "messaging" feature by Chrysler and the U-Connect team which apparently works with obscure and mostly obsolete phone models.

Thus the much hyped messaging feature on our vehicles 8.4N U-Connect is like "vaporware" and generally useless (as "t-ts on a bull") and doesn't exist.

Chrysler shame on you and I also agree with "fanofsteel" that a software upgrade should be developed and made available FREE to all owners!

(I believe the trouble probably lies within the older version Bluetooth protocol that U-Connect uses versus the newer BT 4.0 standards the Galaxy SIII uses and Apples own proprietary BT stack- both not being fully compatible other than basic voice comm, phonebook, Caller ID lookup and streaming audiofunctions. Another words, not fully "backward compatible" with U-Connect's older BT version and protocol)

I have an Android Razr Maxx and the texting thing works with it. It's funny when the Uconnect lady reads some the texts to me. As far as replying to sms, you get to choose from a list of short answers

Doesn't work on a Samsung Galaxy Nexus, sounds like a cool feature.

Works with my droid razr maxx as well, actually prevented me from doing an upgrade to my phone to Galaxy III as I still wanted the texting feature so I am holding off on a new phone until more phones are supported.

Ok, so the Razr Maxx seems to be the only confirmed phone for messaging? What Android Version do you have installed? Do you have metadata when using Bluetooth Audio streaming?

I've searched around in the uConnect online database - the ONLY phone that supports Text Replys is the Nokia Lumia 900 - a Windows 7.5 phone. Other 7.5 phones do not seem to support this. Also the Razr Maxx is NOT listed for the Reply feature.

Really odd

Droid Motorola razr maxx on Verizon is listed as having text. No content metadata though with Bluetooth. I also have Ice Cream Sandwich.

I used the link below and selected the radio/phone make and carrier

Chrysler - Uconnect
