IN PROGRESS...SRT front bumper conversion + ParkSense

I know there are two posts out there, one regarding specifics of the SRT front bumper swap and one regarding front and rear park sensors. I am currently in the process of adding factory front/rear ParkSense and at the same time performing a front end bumper swap. I do have the ACC option, so this process will be the most complex of the two front bumper swap scenarios.

I am currently assembling all components of the front bumper. I plan to do the actual conversion on Sunday, hoping I do not run into any major issues / lack of parts. I believe I have all parts necessary which I have been keeping a list of and will be something that I post at the end of this process. I will post back in a couple hours once the front bumper has been assembled.

Hoping this goes as smoothly as possible. If I run into an issue, hoping we can pull together and figure it out.

Cheers

Bumper has been put together. I think I may be missing a part. Take a look at some pictures (cellphone quality, I apologize);

This is where I think I am missing a piece. These SRT grilles are very "opened" compared to the standard grille on my S. I really cant see past the slats that my current grille have; however, with this SRT grille, since it is mesh I can see right into it. I can easily make out the bumper absorber and also the new wiring harness. This is assuming that I have run it correctly by placing it on top of the absorber. There was not enough slack on it if I ran it under the absorber. I tried to shove the wire down in front of the absorber, but it just keeps bouncing back. I can see the wire from the front through the grille. I doubt that this is ok? However, there looks to be two points of connection that are unused on the inside of the bumper.

I am not entirely sure what goes here. I tried searching and looking at parts diagrams, but nothing obvious is jumping out at me. I do remember when I ordered the front bumper cover, the parts guy said Chrysler had a note that the part required a new close out panel. The part number for that is 68127949AB. I looked that part number up and its listed as a "Sight Shield" under components for the radiator. I don't think this is it. I believe this is the large plastic piece that the top of the bumper cover connects to and is the first piece you see when you open the hood.

I looked down into my current set up, and there is nothing behind the grille. I can see right down to the absorber. What I really need is someone with an SRT to chime in and check if they can see directly through their grille or if there is a piece behind there that is shielding these parts from view.

If I need another part, this will set back my plans to do the conversion on Sunday unless a dealer has the part in stock which I doubt they would.

Set back already

Thoughts?

Not sure if this will help the answer of the Close Out Panel or not. According to the attached diagram item 16 is the panel in question.

Yeah, that's the piece I had figured they were referring to. I don't believe that piece is needed at this point. Not sure why Chrysler says it needs another one. Its only held on via the teeth on the top of the cover as well as two tabs that wrap underneath of the flaps on the cover.

There very well may be not part and once its on the car, you cant really notice because its all black in there. If that's the case ill need to get that wiring harness to stay down. Unfortunately I am traveling to Penn State campus tomorrow. If I see a Chrysler dealer I will stop and see if they have an SRT on the lot.

I don't believe those are the pieces either. I believe those are the air deflectors for the radiator. Take a look at the below photo;

You can see that those pieces are already there. Maybe I do have all of the pieces and I am just over complicating things? I literally cant find anything on any parts diagram or site.

I have an SRT grille installed on my 300S and I can clearly see the absorber and the wiring. I am going to bet you are not missing anything and that is the way it was designed.

I believe there is a SRT at the local dealer and I plan to go and check it out in the morning. I can look at that specific area.

If there is no missing piece, you may consider buying some 3M two sided tape to hold the wire down onto the absorber. I would wipe everything down with alcohol before you try to stick anything together. Just my two cents.
