So the wife thinks she doesn't have her key, so she takes mine, goes on a run and comes back home. She gets out of the car, closes the door, click, the car locks.
So my understanding is if one key fob is in the car and the other is not, the car will not lock. So my thought was to get the other fob. Unbeknownst to her, the second fob happened to be in a side pocket in her purse, meaning both fobs were in the car.
She did not issue any lock request. Important to note that she was returning from an errand and we were getting ready to unload the car, so I happened to see her. She didn't press any buttons. The car locked when she closed the door.
So the car managed to lock itself with both fobs inside. It was not running at the time.
So the question is, what is the logic that allows for a car with both fobs to lock seemingly automatically after the car has just been parked and shut off????? Is there a condition with accessory power that fails to sense the presence of the key. I'm thinking maybe something in her purse may have engaged the lock button on the fob, but there was no horn sound or other indication that the cars was being requested to lock. If you hit the button on the door handle a horn usually sounds when the car is locked.
Do we (I) have some sort of problem with the locking mechanism of the car (assuming there is nothing engaging the key fob in the purse)?
