Exclamation NEW INFO ON THE 5.7 hemi with 8speed transmission

The 2013 late availability 300C with 5.7 liter hemi will have 15 percent better gas mileage with the 8speed than with the 5 speed
The 2013 RAM, Grand Cherokee and Durango with have 12 percent better gas mileage.
and the 2013 Charger if applied to the charger will have 14 percent better gas mileage.
This is with the 5.7 and the 8 speed transmission
Also all cars will be 0.5 to 0.9 sec faster to 60
with a gain of at least 10 hp or more across the board.
The faster times does not come from the hp it comes from the shift points and the availability to apply the torque properly.

This is about the same increases in performance ect as experienced in the V6, I would have thought the V8 would have been a bit less, If accurate its all very good news. I'm new to this forum so please don't take this the wrong way but how credible is your source.
I am waiting to get a 300srt8 but refuse to until it gets the 8 speed so info like yours is always very interesting.
When you say late 2013 do you mean it wont be introduced at the start of the 2013 model year run (later this year) but will be a mid year update (say march,april 2013 for example)
Any news on when the srt8 will get the 8 speed (I would assume at the same time)

I have no info on the SRT Program my news was based on the C/RT/5.7 line not the SRT line that info is super tight lipped my source is very close to chrysler believe what you want but the info should start to leak little by little up until new york auto show

If Chrysler starts mating the 8-speed with the 5.7 I wonder if they will still use MDS. I can just imagine the feel of the car driving over rolling hills at 45 mph choosing between 8 gears while MDS kicks in and out. I've driven the 8-speed with the V-6 and it's great. I love the concept of using it with the V-8, I'm just having trouble imagining it combined with MDS...

This is exactly what I have been wondering as well, as I believe the 8 speed will render the MDS useless, but will marketing allow them to drop the MDS feature???

Of course it will still have MDS. Better ratios and lower cruising RPMs obviously will give the hemi better mileage, but retaining the ability to cut cylinders will further enhance savings. There's no reason they wouldn't keep MDS.
The Bentley Conti. GT can do it, so can Chrysler.
