Removing emblems and molding appropriately is not difficult and will not cause paint damage or scratches. The residual you see in Abhunter's photos is from incomplete removal of 3-M double stick tape. It's obvious the person responsible used something sharp to try and pry the emblems off (maybe a knife of some sort) that ultimately caused the paint scratches and left most of the tape still on the finish.
