Transmission O ring leak *DIY* fix
|
I don't know about you but I hate taking my SRT to the dealer, they are always packed and can never get me in and out its always a whole day ordeal.
So I decided to do it myself instead of having the car sit there all day.
My dealer had the parts in stock it's 2 O-rings that cost about $4. I also bought a quart of tranny fluid to replace what would drain out, cost about $6.
Have the dealer print out the TSB in their system it shows the steps for the procedure, with a picture. After about 2 minutes of reading the directions you will know what to do, it's simple.
TIP: To minimize transmission fluid leakage, jack the car up from the passenger side and put jacks under the front and back tires. When you pull the sensor out put a drain pan under and no more than 1/2 quart should leak out. I measured how much I lost so I knew how much to put back in; I lost about 1/4 quart.
Don't forget to twist the sensor housing back tight before crawling out.
Tools needed: 7mm socket with extension, drain pan
Cost About $10 and 30 minutes
