HHP High flow Cats - AWD Installed!!!
|
Us 4 wheelers have been waiting for this for some time now... I begged Josh to make em... and they are HERE!
HHP and Josh are great... They knew that we were waiting so long for these, and a few of us had ordered several months ago, so as soon as they were manufactured he had JBA overnight them directly to us!
California to NY must have cost a fortune over night!! Thanks Josh.
I got them Yesterday, and spent the morning installing. It is a really easy install.
Installation
Jack up the front of the car, put em up on Jack stands. (If you are a large guy do the rear too... But I can slide under the car without doing that)
Unplug the two O2 sensors.
Unbolt the connections to the exhaust manifold on each side. (4 nuts on a stud if you have the stock manifolds. May have to struggle with nut an bolt if you have shorties) The stock setup is a nut, heat shield and another nut. I found using a 5/8" deep socket a swivel and a 6 inch extension reached all bolts well.
Loosen two band clamps that hold the mid pipes to the cat back. (The 5/8 worked for this too, but you may have different clamps depending on your exhaust)
Unbolt the cross member (13MM). You won't be able to free the cats unless you do this.
Now wiggle till their free... CAREFUL NOT TO DROP EM ON YOUR O2 sensor! WD40 may help.
Using a 1" open end remove the two O2 sensors.
Install the O2's in the new pipes.
Bolt up both pipes to the manifold... leave them very loose so they can be adjusted.
At this point I pulled off the two exhaust hangers in front of the pumpkin to make it easier to manuver the pipes in place.
Clean any carbon buildup in the pipe, gonna make working the new pipes in easier. I used some emery cloth.
Insert the mid pipe into your cat back. Wiggle till they are seated in there.
Now... Use a Jack to push the pipes up in place. I jack just in front of the cross member. If you don't do this... you'll be hearing your exhaust bounce on the cross member... VERY ANNOYING!
Tighten the nuts on the manifold, replace the heat shield and nuts.
adjust your exhaust to where you like it, make sure there is enough speace around all pipes. Use a pry bar if necessary to make fine adjustments. Tighten your band clamps.
replace the cross member. Replace exhaust hangers.
Check for leaks and road test.
Driving impressions:
On my magnaflow exhaust, I immediately noticed more of a growl when she started up. But it isn't louder or anything.
You DEFNINITELY notice a difference. I took her out for a spin and I can feel her to be much more responsive.
So I shut down esp and make a left. I floor it around the corner. She actually broke free for a second. I was half expecting a fishtail like a RWD, but instead she just slid to the right for a split second, caught and took off.
I can't wait to get her to the track to see what she'll do!!!
HHP has plenty of these in stock for both RWD and AWD. Josh has given me a discount code that I can share with anyone interested. PM me!
