First let me say that I chose the Mopar CAI with the only expectation of getting a nice additional growl to compliment the Magnaflow system.
No HP expectations.
I installed the CAI this afternoon and must thank vvv90 for his thorough step by step instructions which helped tremendously. Even I was able to finish it up in just over an hour with little to no issues.
My first impression is: HOLY CRAP!
I expected it to sound like the old 4bbl Z28s I grew up with but DAMN this thing sounds downright evil at WOT. I now get it when some of you say that their fuel mileage drops after install. You just want to mash the gas all the time.
I know that their have been coutless dynos that prove that there is no HP gain with the Mopar system but I have to honestly say that it FEELS faster. It's probably mental HP but it really seems more responsive and the CAI and Magnaflow system really work well together.
I have to say that I'm sorry I waited so long to do it and highly recommend a new CAI to anyone with a stock intake if you want your 6.1L HEMI to sound like a 6.1L HEMI is supposed to.
