I had a big rock smack my window recently. Heavy hit, left powdered glass in the contact zone, spider cracks from the center, even some of the rock left in the midde. Near the impact zone, some delamination has occured. I called the insurance company, they were to send a team to my office to replace the window.

The safelite truck shows up without any new glass. Says the replacement deductible is 100 bucks, repair, however, is free. So I then ask if the damage could really be repaired, he assures me that it can.

He puts a small device on the window, fills the hole with some epoxy.....

End result? Well, it was free to me, 60 dollars to the insurance company. I guess its ok, sign paperwork, etc. Only when I research this process on the internet do I start to get angry. The "technician" did not follow the published safelite procedures, the damage is now truely irreperable, and I am out time and trouble.

If you do chose to repair your window chips, read all about the procedure on the internet FIRST. Then, call your insurance company, as most will cover the repair cost entirely.
