Dad never left me alone with tools, after I dismantled his new computer (when I was 9) Table Saw (when I was 10) and then his lawn mower (when I was 11). Just to see how they worked..
Good thing is I remembered how it all came apart and dad taught me to put all the screws in baggies and label them, so I never had any left over (ok almost never)
My dad was cool (RIP Dad) he taught me how to build an engine when I was 13 (Chevy 454 Small Block) and when I was 15 we bought a 1978 Trans Am from a Police Auction and dumped the 454 into it...
though the first car I ever drove and worked on was his 1968 Thunderbird (429CI) and the second was his 1962 Corvette (327CI). I got my a$$ whooped for taking the radio apart (I think I was like 6 or 7)
