Jected, your bent tab was a great solution. I now get no more rubbing. In fact, I have now posted a rubbing fix solution in the General forum. Nice find!
Interestingly, I had no problem whatsoever with getting the tube through the heat shield. Maybe AFE left the breather attachment too long on yours, causing you to have to cut it.
