If you aren't in a big hurry, wait a couple or 3 months until the '08s get on the lots. We usually buy our new vehicles in Sep-Dec and get the new last-years models cuz the dealers want them off the lot to make room for the next model year and are willing to deal.
Look at newspaper ads and see what dealers are deducting off the sticker price to move these cars. When you find one offering 5-8k off the sticker in the ad - it will be for one stock# only just to get people there. And - of course - that car will have a "deal pending" on it so you can't get that special price, but they will have a more expensive one they will sell you....(Bear with me here) I have had good luck by taking an ad like this with me and looking at several lots to find just the vehicle I want - and then showing them the ad and asking if they will match the discount the other dealer is advertising. Many times they will match it - and you have the car you want at the price you want.
Get the cash price - and then work out the interest rate and the payment from there. DO NOT LET THEM WORK OFF OF THE PAYMENT - WHATEVER YOU DO! Make them negotiate the price of the car like you already have a check in hand or cash. My philosophy is that if they don't knock at least 5k off the sticker I'm not buying it. I have bought vehicles like this that they took 7-10k off the sticker. I also get my loans through a credit union I belong to - so the dealer is really out of the equation. They are out to screw you for all they can get - and I don't play that game anymore. Been there - Done that.
