It’s that time of the year again and SEMA is right around the corner. For those who don’t know SEMA is the largest automotive after market event in the world, it is what’s considered to be the “Big Show”. This year I will debut a new design created by me earlier this year. I am working with Extreme Dimensions on the project and Buck Wild Designs to fabricate the parts. The car will receive a new body kit along with some major body changes. These parts will go into production after SEMA and will be available for the 300 owners from one of our supporting vendors. I am going with a minimalist look, that is very clean, simple, aggressive and completely cutting edge. For starters the car will be complete de-blinged, there will be very little chrome if any at all.
The first step was having an illustration produced for the final look of the car. For this I went to Steve Stanford. This guy is unreal and well respected in the industry. Having never done this before it was an experience for me. The first step was put together a collage of ideas I had for Steve. I then met with him several times explaining what I wanted and refining the look. Steve did the illustration in about five days. He is a true artist, the illustration is hand drawn and very detailed, the results were unbelievable. The purpose of the illustration is it gives a clear visual as to what I wanted to accomplish. With the illustration I was able to approach manufactures that could produce the parts I needed. It truly is a must to have if anyone attempts to take on this challenge. The illustration also brought to life all the ideas I had in my head and now could visually see the results.
Here’s what I will say about the project for now. There car will remain Bright Silver primarily with matte black and carbon fiber. I will have photos of the body work and how the parts were produced and post them along the way, including the final assembly of the car. Buck Wild Designs currently are currently fabricating the parts for the car. These guys are absolutely the best and take it to the edge.
The car will be on display at SEMA with Mattel Hot Wheels, who are a major sponsor of SEMA this year and will have a huge presence.
I will update the thread along the way so you can see a step by step of the build. Stay tune…..
Oh, for those who have seen the illustration, please do not post any of the details and the illustration has been blurred out for a reason.
