I honestly think it's a coincidence. I don't see how they could be related in anyway. Did it start working again or are you still having the problem. I know some members in the past had problems with the NAV system and the unit needed to be replaced. I had problems but it was due to extreme cold, once the car warmed up, everything worked without any problem. Take it to the dealer.
